Leading Graphics Software Provider Licenses Sharpcast Platform to Offer Embedded Online Service Bridging Gap Between Online Storage and Offline Media

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharpcast, a top innovator in synchronization technology and converged consumer services, today announced Corel Corporation , a leading developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, licensed Sharpcast's Universal Synchronization & Convergence (USC) platform technology to integrate with its new Corel(R) MediaOne(R) Plus and Corel MediaOne Starter digital photo and video software. The Sharpcast platform enables a unique converged experience across PC, web and mobile devices for Corel MediaOne customers, automatically synchronizing local images from a PC hard drive into a private and secure online vault from which people can view, share or manage their backed up photos from any web browser and from select mobile phones.

Corel is the first of several major software industry players to license Sharpcast technology to help transform its offering from a standalone software solution to a hybrid software plus service combination that seamlessly connects people's online and offline worlds. Sharpcast is working with leading software providers, wireless and internet service providers and OEM manufacturers to make consumer media ubiquitously available to people regardless of the number of different devices they have and whether they are online or offline.

Corel MediaOne, the newest release from Corel's expanded digital media portfolio, offers easy-to-use tools for automatic online backup and sharing, photo retouching, organization and simple video editing. It is available beginning today at designated retailers and resellers nationwide or from Corel's website at Customers can access the Sharpcast-powered backup, sharing and online gallery features from directly within the Corel MediaOne application.

The license agreement between Corel and Sharpcast provides Corel a fast and efficient path to market for its embedded backup, sharing and online gallery offerings, and extends Sharpcast's service offering to millions of consumers through Corel's strong retail and reseller presence and OEM distribution.
