BOSTON, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Carbonite Inc., the leading provider of online backup services for consumers and small businesses, announced its selection by voters as a 2009 Webware 100 award winner on Webware, a CNET site. Carbonite's set-and-forget online backup service was honored as a favorite in the Infrastructure and Storage category.

Carbonite was among more than 5,000 companies nominated by Webware readers and one of 300 companies chosen as a finalist. More than 630,000 votes were cast in an online poll, which ultimately selected the Webware 100 winners. Other honorees in the Webware 100 include Facebook, Twitter and Skype.

"We are thrilled and honored to have been voted as a 2009 Webware 100 winner," said David Friend, founder and CEO of Carbonite. "This designation is a great confirmation of the high value our customers place on the protection Carbonite provides for their personal and professional data. We've backed up more than 25 billion files and helped our customers restore more than 2 billion files that otherwise would have been lost forever."

Carbonite recently added a remote access feature that allows users to access their backed-up files online anytime from any computer. Earlier this year, the company introduced its Carbonite for Mac product, which provides unlimited, automatic online backup for Intel-based Macs with OS 10.4 or 10.5.
