Partnership Brings Online Backup Offers to WinZip Customers

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Carbonite, Inc. and WinZip Computing today announced a one-year contract under which Carbonite Online Backup service will be offered to WinZip’s customer base. The agreement follows a series of successful promotions carried out between the two companies during 2007. These promotions, which offered WinZip customers favorable terms on subscriptions to Carbonite Online Backup, generated much interest among the WinZip community and resulted in a boost in subscriptions for Carbonite. During the course of 2008, WinZip customers can expect to see quarterly promotions for Carbonite.

“WinZip customers seem to like our relationship with Carbonite and have reacted favorably to the Carbonite subscription offers,” said Edwin Siebesma, President of WinZip Computing. “This relationship has been very attractive for both companies and we’re looking forward to even better results on our upcoming joint marketing efforts.”

With Carbonite Online Backup, subscribers can protect all their important files against catastrophic data loss by backing up files quickly and easily in a secure offsite location. Using the same encryption as banks, Carbonite offers unlimited, automatic online back up for photos, music, emails, financial records, videos, documents and more. The combination of Carbonite and WinZip allows for an added layer of security on extra sensitive files by giving users the option to zip and encrypt their files with WinZip before backing them up with Carbonite.

“WinZip has millions of users around the world,” David Friend, Carbonite CEO and founder said. “The fact that Carbonite is available in 11 languages makes us a good fit for WinZip’s very large international user base. Also, WinZip is a superb product that has been around for many years and earned the trust of countless users. We are flattered that WinZip would lend the weight of their trusted brand to Carbonite, and we will not let them down.”
