[March 24, 2010] - News- New Zealand-based Web hosting provider and ISP, Maxnet has agreed to acquire online backup specialist, DataLock.

Maxnet CEO, John Hanna, outlined the merits of the acquisition: "As a data centre and internet service provider, being able to provide a sophisticated backup solution is a highly-complementary offering to the other services we provide. We've been hosting DataLock's backup services in our data-centre for a couple of years now, and we've seen the rapid growth that DataLock has achieved. So it made absolute sense to look at acquiring the business to supplement the range of services that we already provide."

Those backup services, according to Hanna, will be the most comprehensive and cost-effective in New Zealand. DataLock provides online backup services for Windows, Mac, Unix, Linux, Solaris, Netware and NAS devices and has amassed more than 120 reseller partnerships in the Australasia region.

No financial details of the deal, expected to be finalized on April 1, 2010, were disclosed. DataLock's CEO Andrew Schick will stay on to manage Maxnet's business continuity wholesale service.

Maxnet provides Web hosting and Internet connectivity services from it's 200-rack data centre in Auckland and a second 40-rack facility in Christchurch. Further details are available at <a href=">
