Dutch Online Backup Firm, Backup Connect Acquired by j2 Global

Dutch online backup provider, Backup Connect BV has been acquired by cloud services specialist j2 Global for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition now extends j2's locally-operated and supported online backup business to five countries on three continents.

"This acquisition reflects our continued interest in the online backup space and our commitment to growing this business globally," said j2 Global, Inc. CEO Hemi Zucker. “We look forward to pursuing additional acquisitions in this space and to leveraging and extending our localized global online backup footprint.”

The acquisition means that j2 serves customers and provides local sales, support and online backup infrastructures in the US, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and The Netherlands.

In Novemeber 12, 2012, j2 paid $167 million to acquire digital media firm Ziff Davis Inc., owners of tech trade publications including, PCMag.com, ExtremeTech.com, ComputerShopper.com, Toolbox.com and Geek.com. Los-Angeles based j2 also provides unified communications services, including hosted email, voicemail, and fax as well as online marketing.
